Tried the Oyster Sandwich at Commune, pretty good! Been a while since I’ve had one of these. I saw my buddy Vinny too, he’s just one of those guys you feel good being around.

Breakfast Casserole by Marleigh
Our daughter--Marleigh--is a Jr. Designer at Need Supply Co. in Richmond, VA. They recently had a brunch potluck and she made a breakfast casserole her mother likes to make for these things. Turned out to be a hit.

Breakfast at Tomstone
We tried out a new spot in town called Breakfast at Tomstone.
If you didn’t know it the Tom in Tomstone is Tom Ray. He illustrated the Grinch! He passed away in 2010 but he did live here. The shop has some of his original artwork for sale still. His wife Brenda opened a cafe next to the animation shop.
Egg White Breakfast Casserole
Egg White Breakfast Casserole
Breakfast sandwich I made this morning: Bacon, sausage, egg, a slice of cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and mayo; all topped off with a dash of pepper. So good.
Breakfast Sandwich
Steel-cut oats, cinnamon, nutmeg, a little salt and sugar—cooked al dente. Tossed in some of the last banana too.
Oatmeal and Bananas
Shelby put together a nice waffle this morning.
Waffles with Strawberries, Bananas and Cream
Shelby made me a few small frittatas I could grab and take to work with me this week. Very good! :)
Frittatas
Egg White Spinach and feta frittata I had at my hotel recently. Very good.
Egg White Frittata
Since I’m watching my cholesterol I tried making an omelet with Egg Beaters and Morning Star sausage.
Egg Beaters and Morning Star
Breakfast sandwich Shelby made: bacon, mushrooms, on a cheesy garden omelet.
Shelby made me breakfast for Father’s Day :) Frittata with chorizo and a side of bacon!
Shelby and I drove up to Richmond today to have brunch with Marleigh. It’s her birthday tomorrow! We tried getting into Black Sheep and Cafe 821, but both places were packed. We tried Balliceaux and they had a spot open and I’m glad they did.
The food there was great and the service was friendly. I ordered the Soul (Mama Loves You). Buttermilk biscuits with country sausage gravy, there was a little bite with the gravy and the biscuits were perfect. I also had a side of Ironic, truffle cured bacon! Super good! Shelby ordered the Duck and Waffles. It was topped with a spicy maple syrup and whipped butter. I’ve heard of chicken and waffles but never tried it, this was a really good combination. Marleigh got the Proper Fry-up, a classic breakfast plate, with home fries, Surry sausage, house bacon, eggs, beans, toast, and grilled tomato.
All-in-all, we had a great time and I’m glad we had chance to try the place out.
Hubcap Grill Breakfast Wraps
The other day I visited Hubcap Grill again, this time for breakfast! I ordered a All-in-One Breakfast Sandwich and Breakfast Wrap. They were very good and hit the spot. The sandwich was made with French toast and I added a dash of hot sauce to the wrap. Good stuff!
