Recently went to the Dave & Buster’s attending a work function. The establishment just opened so I was curious to take a peek inside. The place was huge and it was Happy Hour. I was surprised to find out there were no food specials at happy hour and the beer selection was slim. Other than that, it looks like it could be fun.
Young Veterans Brewing Co. Tap Take-over at The Porch
To help kick off Young Veterans Brewing Co.’s grand opening recently, The Porch hosted a tap take-over featuring the brewery’s beer. Great turnout and the first keg (Even Keel I believe) was empty in 25 minutes.
Navy Exchange Command Diversity Day 2013
Navy Exchange Command recently celebrated Diversity Day and in addition to the activities of the day, food vendors were invited too!

Ten Top Take-out
Tried something new at The Ten Top last night and was blown away by one of the items we ordered: Crab Bisque! So far my favorite crab soup is the She-Crab Soup served at Mannino’s, but after having the Crab Bisque from Ten Top, I’ll have to re-evaluate my rankings. Guess this means a trip to Mannino’s ;)
The Meatloaf Sandwich I had was very good too. We were trying to figure out how they made the meatloaf, bell peppers in the mix was good.
Embrace The Culture - Norfolk’s Indie Music & Arts Festival
The Embrace The Culture - Norfolk’s Indie Music & Arts Festival had a great turn-out of local artists, musicians, and of course, food! In addition to the trucks and stands serving the attendees, there were beer tents and even a water station people could fill water bottles free of charge. Very nice day, great event.
Cheap & Cheery - Sep 2013
This month’s Cheap & Cheery at Grape and Gourmet was special because both Deb and Spencer had their birthdays this week! Shelby and I bought cupcakes from Twisted Sisters and lit candles for them in the shop. Everyone in the store sang “Happy Birthday” and gave them a round of applause afterwards. Love this shop.

Terrapin has a Wednesday night Fried Chicken and Pinot special—it’s not to be missed if you live in the area! After dinner we treated ourselves with a Bon Bomb and S’Mores.
The Creative Wedge's First Wine Tasting!
The Creative Wedge in Virginia Beach, VA, had their first wine tasting at the shop. They had a nice spread, sampling their cheeses and meats—of course a good selection of local wines too.
Young Veterans Brewing Co. Grand Opening
Young Veterans Brewing Company opened its doors to the public this past weekend. The turn out was great and the beer spectacular. The taps were all manned, offering a taste of what the area will be enjoying at their local bar or grocery.
Malbon’s was there with their truck selling tacos and BBQ, the line to get inside to order a beer snaked past it. People were chatting and excited about the new Virginia Beach brewery. The 1st place winner in both local Battle of the Beers “Jet Noise” was popular, as was the Pineapple Grenade, and Semper Fi.
